WHAT: Screening of the new public television documentary The Real Adam Smith: A Personal Exploration by Johan Norberg
How relevant can an 18th century moral philosopher and economist be in today’s world? If the man is Adam Smith, “the father of modern economics,” the answer is: very. Just ask eBay, Whole Foods, Airbus, and many other companies that have built businesses based on Smith’s ideas.
Those ideas, and the man behind them, are the subject of a new two-part documentary that will be airing on WTTW on July 7 (part 1) and July 14 (part 2) at 8:00 p.m.
Screening (30 minutes) is followed by discussion and Q&A with the film’s executive producer Bob Chitester, director Jim Taylor, executive editor and host Johan Norberg and Adam Smith Society Senior Director Alison Mangerio.
